K-5 concert ushers in ‘Magic Season’

Chase County K-5 students kicked off the school’s concert season Tuesday night with an hour-long Christmas program filled with songs of the season. After the “Star Spangled Banner” was sung by everyone, the kindergarten class opened the program with three numbers. Above, from left, Andy Jantz, Joann Nichols and Emalyn Olsen have fun with the cookie cutouts they made for the song, “Gingerbread Cookies” that closed their performance. Middle, Ashleigh Colton looks a bit professional as she sings along with her fellow kindergartners. The first, second, third, fourth and fifth graders followed with their own individual program of songs, all under the direction of Jodie Liess, below, shown directing the fourth graders as they sing “Those Who Served,” a tribute to veterans. The program closed with everyone singing “An Old Irish Blessing.” (Johnson Publications photos)
