Girls come home District C-9 Champions from Bayard

    The girls more than doubled second place Perkins County’s point total, winning the C-9 Championship and qualifying  13 girls for the state meet in Omaha, May 17-18.
    The Lady Longhorns Qualified the top two runners in the 100, 200 and the 800 meter runs. In the 100, Riley Rusher edged out Ella Colson for first place by .08 seconds.
    The spots reversed in the 200 with Colson edging out R. Rusher by .18 seconds. Haley Rusher was just .33 seconds behind her sister.
    In the 800, Emily Randall took first with a time of 2:29.67 and Miranda Spady followed in second with a time of 2:31.12. Aria McNair finished the 800 in fourth.
    Peyton Owens came in third in the 300 hurdles but had a fast enough time to get her into the race in Omaha.
    Karlie Anderson qualified in the high jump, taking second place, clearing 5’. Avery Beemer finished second in the pole vault, clearing 10’ 6” and Owens won the triple jump, with a leap of 35’ 9.75”, just 2.5” short of the school record.
    The girls won all three of the relays. Colson, R. Rusher, Adelle Eskew and H. Rusher ran the 4x100. In the 4x400, Owens, Lizbet Mireles, E. Randall and R. Rusher took the win, while Spady, Landree McNair, Elizabeth Hanna and Ashlyn Heermann won the 4x800.

    Class A and B will compete in Omaha on May 15-16. Class C and D will compete Friday and Saturday, May 17-18.
    Competition will take place at Omaha Burke Stadium. There will be a free shuttle service from the Northeast corner of the Westroads Mall parking lot. The shuttle will run from 11 am until the conclusion of events each day.
    Tickets must be purchased through GoFan (https://gofan.co/app/school/NSAA). Tickets must be on your phone, either through the app or your email for redemption. No printed or paper tickets allowed. Screenshots are also not allowed.
    Prices are $11.50 per day for adults and $8.35 for students age 5-12th grade. If you do not have a mobile device, there will be a kiosk located at the main entrances, (North, South, East and West).
    The kiosk uses credit/debit cards only. NO CASH! Tickets at the kiosk can only be purchased for that day. Do not validate your ticket until you are at the gate. Tickets must be validated in front of a gate attendant.
    Friday and Saturday field events start at 9:00 am C.T. and running events start at 1:30 pm. There will be intermitant medal presentations throughout the day.
