WP FFA competes at Curtis contest

The Wauneta-Palisade FFA team, 50 strong with 30 in high school and 20 in junior high, competed in CDE in Curtis, Nebraska on Nov. 16. Mandy Sandoval placed third in senior individual livestock judging, Mckinley Stoller placed third in junior high individual livestock judging and both the junior high and high school livestock teams placed sixth.
On Dec. 12 three members completed LDE #1 in Curtis on the NCTA campus. Mandy Sandoval placed fourth in employment skills receiving a purple ribbon and Kaia Applegarth placed fourth in ag literacy speaking receiving a purple ribbon, along with Amya Keenan, who received a blue ribbon.
In upcoming events and competitions, the next CDE is on Jan. 17 at the NCTA campus. Twelve FFA members will compete in creed speaking, extemporaneous speaking and junior high quiz bowl. Eight welders will be at the Lexington Welding Invitational on Feb. 3. Four days later, on Feb. 7, the second CDE in Curtis at the NCTA will occur, with students competing in vet science, agronomy, ag mechanics, biotech, nursery and landscape, and farm management. They will travel to Frontier County Lastly, on Feb. 27, an invitational in Frontier County for floriculture, food science, vet service and agronomy will occur.
