Imperial Republican welcomes new reporter, Julius Pavlas III

First impressions are always the most important part of beginning a relationship for both parties. So, as a new resident of Imperial, Nebraska, I would like to start off with mine.
The first few words that came to mind when I think of the town of Imperial are “Quaint” and “Quiet.” I am originally from a similarly sized town in the middle of Texas. The difference is that mine was cut through by an interstate, so there was a sense of continual motion and never being at rest: The sound of cars zooming by and that sound echoing into the night. Here, I feel tranquil and at rest. It’s very settled, as if a meadow covered by snow after a blizzard. I feel at peace when looking out my window, seeing the patches of melted snow and wind blowing through the grass. My grandparents lived in a town that also felt away from the hustle and bustle of it all. I am usually a quiet man who likes quiet things, so I feel very at home here.
Speaking of grateful, I’ve never gone to a restaurant for breakfast that had the option of just one single pancake and having that one single pancake be the size of my entire ceramic plate, and having my sides of bacon and scrambled eggs having to be on top. Seeing that on my first morning here at the MorningStar Café (And it being a delicious meal) was certainly a delightful surprise. Words cannot describe how much I enjoy restaurants that are not connected to any big brand with the same menus of three things and no deviation. These places do their own thing and to see ones that make it work (As well as having delicious food) are really inspirational to me. It was certainly a great breakfast to start a day full of moving things into my new home.
As a new reporter to the Imperial Republican, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself.
My name is Julius Pavlas, III. The town I am originally from is called Bruceville-Eddy. I am the oldest child of three, with two sisters that I love very dearly. I may not talk very much but I like to listen, and I enjoy starting my mornings off with a black tea mixed with lemonade and almond extract. I’ve had a fascination with journalism since I was around seven. In Texas, there is a group called the University Interscholastic League that holds a competition for various subjects every year. When I participated, it would be around news writing or something similar. I wanted to take this position for a change in my life: I try to take an opportunity when I see one and not live my life on a fence.
My hope, for my future at the Imperial Republican, I can develop great lasting and trusting relationships with all my contacts. I will be at and reporting on local government meetings and city events. If you have story ideas or suggestions on coverage, please contact me at 308-882-4453.
