Six Broncos earn wins to start wrestling season

Wauneta-Palisade’s wrestling team wasted no time diving into its season. The boys team traveled to invites at Hi-Line and Mullen last week, while the girls team was at the Southwest Invite.
Freshman Kreyton Wiese placed first at Hi-Line and second at Mullen, starting the season with a 6-1 record.
Also finishing the first week of the season with at least .500 records were Konner McCrumb (4-3), Coleman Chism (5-3) and Trey McCrumb (4-4).
K. McCrumb went 1-2 at Hi-Line but went 3-1 in his pool at Mullen and took second place.
Chism went 2-2 to start the season at Hi-Line then shook off an opening round loss to win three-straight matches in Mullen.
T. McCrumb also had a 1-2 record after the first invite, but evened his record with a 3-1 day at Mullen.
In the first meet of her career, Andrea Almanza went 0-3 at Southwest.
This week, the Broncos will be at the Southern Valley Invite Friday.
