Chase County wrestlers open season with wins over Bridgeport, Garden County

    The Chase County wrestlers opened the season with a triangular at Garden County. The Longhorns won both duals, defeating Garden County 48-24 and Bridgeport 59-12.
    In the opening match of the night, the Longhorns only had four pairings with Garden County and could only manage one victory in those matches.
    In the 144 pound weight class Malachi Christensen won by pinfall over Kyle Rote in.
    The Longhorns lost the other three matches with Brextin Moreno losing by pinfall to Cable Larson at 120 pounds.
    At 132 pounds Jaqueb Hoover lost by pinfall to Jase Roberson and Tyler O’Neil lost by pinfall to Gunner Robertson at 175 pounds.
    Garden County got a win by forfeit at 126 pounds and Chase County had wins by forfeit at 215, 285, 138, 150, 157, 165 and 190 pounds.
    In the second dual of the night against Bridgeport, Chase County won every match they had wrestlers in.
    The Longhorns gave up forfeits at 106 and 126 pounds and it was a double forfeit at 113 with neither team having that weight filled.
    The dual started out with the 285 pound class where Zach Tarin pinned Kooper Rahmig  in 3:07. Brextin Moreno pinned Taylor Eichthaler in 3:07 in the 120 pound class.
    At 132 pounds Connor Einspahr pinned Zachary Jeffords in 4:49. Spencer Kelly pinned Blake Collins in 1:45 in the 138 pound class.
    Christensen chalked up his second win at 144 pounds with a decision win, 9-4 over Illias Lehman. At 150 pounds, Luis Co won by technical fall over Sebastian Quigley. 26-7.
    Westyn Mendenhall won over Harrison Barnette at 157 pounds with a 2-1 decision. At 165 Fabian Arelin pinned Quinten Tretter in 2:51.
    O’Neil bounced back with a pin over Corbyn Fleming in 2:25 in the 175 pound class. Thomas Reeves pinned Ryker Norman in 2:39 in the 190 pound class and at 215, Jaret Peterson pinned Cole Kalen in 2:50.
    The Longhorns will travel to the Broken Bow Invite on Saturday Dec. 2.
