Two from Chase County awarded by state 4-H

Two 4-H volunteers from Chase County have received state-level awards from the Nebraska 4-H Program.
Lindsey Mendenhall and Arlys Cupp are among the 23  volunteers and one 4-H family of volunteers being recognized with a 2023 Nebraska 4-H Volunteer Award.
Mendenhall, a 4-H member for 11 years who has aged out of the program, is receiving the Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award. Only one Youth Volunteer Award is given across the state, according to 4-H personnel.
She plans to continue to stay involved in 4-H this summer helping with the Chase County 4-H program.
Mendenhall’s award recognizes a 4-H member who is 14-18 years old and who has made a meaningful impact on their local 4-H community.
Eleven individuals are receiving Outstanding Adult Volunteer Awards, including Cupp. These awards recognize current volunteers, 19 and older, who have served more than four years in their local 4-H community. One individual is recognized for each Nebraska Extension Engagement Zone.
The annual Nebraska 4-H Volunteer Awards honor individuals who are making meaningful and lasting contributions to their local 4-H communities. They are announced during Week of the Volunteer in April.
Those selected had to be nominated.
“All across the state, Nebraska 4-H volunteers do incredible work to provide opportunities for our youth,” said Jill Goedeken, 4-H Professional Development and Volunteer Extension Educator.
“These volunteers generously give their time, energy and creativity to help develop the next generation of leaders, and we are thrilled to be able to recognize their contributions,” she said.
Recipients will be celebrated during a recognition ceremony at the 2023 Nebraska State Fair.
