Training group awards Brian Hill top accolade

    Brian Hill of Denver, a former Imperial resident and 1987 Chase County High School graduate, earned a coveted training award.
    Hill was selected 2023 Trainer of the Year by the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association, and was recognized at the organization’s March 20-25 annual conference in St. Louis, Missouri.
    Selection of the award winner is made by former Trainer of the Year recipients.
    Owner of Mental Ammo, a law enforcement training provider, Hill is a charter member of ILEETA with 20-plus years of experience in law enforcement.
    He is currently a Staff Sergeant working for a law enforcement agency in the Denver metro area.
    Hill is involved in numerous law enforcement programs in Colorado, and serves as editor of the ILEETA Journal’s Officer Safety/Use of Force section.
    He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1987-94, earning the rank of Sergeant.
    During one of the classes he taught at last month’s ILEETA conference, Hill said he had several Ukrainian police officers in his class.
    According to their website, ILEETA is a fraternal association of professional trainers and educators dedicated to the continuing improvement of the effectiveness of criminal justice practitioners, as well as enhancing their safety and the communities they serve.    
    Hill is the son of Joyce and the late Ansel Hill of Imperial.
