Teen taken to local hospital following Monday accident

One person was taken to Chase County Community Hospital and another was cited in two different accidents minutes apart Monday morning.
A one-vehicle accident reported at 7:50 a.m. Monday called Sheriff Kevin Mueller about 8 miles northeast of Imperial, where a vehicle had slid off the road on Avenue 335, just north of Road 744.
Jayme Gittlein, 14, a freshman at Chase County Schools who lives in northeast Chase County, was driving a 2007 Ford Expedition south of 335 Ave when she hit a ridge of ice on the road, causing the vehicle to slide into the west ditch, Mueller said.
It was found tipped over on its side, Mueller said.
Gittlein was transported by Imperial EMS to the hospital, where she was treated and released.
Mueller said there was minor damage done to the Gittlein vehicle and the owners planned to remove it from the scene.
The Imperial Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
About 10 minutes earlier, sheriff’s office deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle, non-injury accident in Wauneta at the intersection of Atoka and Arapahoe Streets.
A 2000 Dodge Dakota operated by Diana Gilley, 65, of Ovid, Colorado was traveling eastbound on Atoka Street. The Dakota slid through the intersection and collided with a northbound 2003 Dodge Ram operated by Konner Shifflet, 15, of Wauneta, Mueller said.
The Dodge pickup was disabled by the damage incurred in the accident and was towed from the scene. The 2000 Dodge Dakota received functional damage and was able to be driven away, according to the report.
Gilley was issued a citation for no insurance and driving under suspension, the sheriff said.
