Commissioners continue to look for volunteers for county boards

The Chase County Commissioners met for their regular meeting Sept. 27. Included in the meeting was Board of Equalization and a closed session.
Duane Todd and Bud Statz informed the board that Marv Teply has resigned from the Veteran’s Service Board. Todd and Statz recommended Rory Jens to replace Teply.
As with discussion at previous commissioner meetings, the commissioners want to make sure the public is aware whenever there is a board opening so interested parties have a chance to contact the corresponding board.
Highway Superintendent Toney Krajewski informed the board that the Wauneta and Champion road projects would be wrapping up that week. The commissioners discussed striping the road. Krajewski said he’d look into what the county had to have.
Discussion was held concerning salaries for county road employees and the best and most fair way to handle starting wages and raises.
Toward the end of the meeting, the commissioners went into closed session with Deputy County Attorney Rory Roundtree to discuss the Tax Equalization & Review Commission case between the county and County Assessor Dottie Bartels.
The next meeting of the commissioners will be Oct. 11 at 8 a.m.
