Bloodmobile next week sets 49-unit goal

Another American Red Cross Bloodmobile is finalizing plans for an Imperial blood drive next Thursday, Sept. 22.
This drive will be held from 12:30 to 6 p.m. at the Chase County fairgrounds, with coordinator Emma Jenkins in charge.
Jenkins said next week’s drive has a goal of 49 units, and appointments are now being taken. Donors can schedule online at redcrossblood.org, or contact Jenkins at 308-883-1460.
People may still donate after receiving a COVID-19 vaccination. Knowing the name of the manufacturer is critical in determining blood donation eligibility, according to the Red Cross.
The Red Cross follows a high standard of safety and infection control and volunteers will continue to socially distance wherever possible at its blood drives, donation centers and facilities. While donors are no longer required to wear a face mask, individuals may do so if they choose.
There are some special incentives for blood donors giving in September.
This month donors will receive an email with a free haircut coupon, thanks to Sport Clips Haircuts.
In addition, everybody who comes in to donate blood this month will be automatically entered for a chance to win a VIP NASCAR package also courtesy of Sport Clips.
The NASCAR experience includes two tickets to a 2023 Sport Clips-sponsored race of the winner’s choice, round-trip airfare for two, up to a 3-night hotel stay, entry to a Sport Clips racetrack hospitality tent if available and a $750 gift card.
