Gas prices in Imperial were about 80 cents higher for Roy Blackburn of Tennessee, who was filling up Sunday at Imperial’s Kwik Stop. But local drivers were happy, as unleaded prices here dropped another 10 cents early this week.

Gas drops another 10 cents here

Local drivers saw gas prices drop another 10 cents the past week, as average prices for unleaded in Nebraska fell an average of 14.4 cents.
The state’s average price Monday was $3.87.
In Imperial, Kwik Stop’s advertised price as $4.19, after it had dropped to $4.29 the week before.
Nationally, unleaded was selling for $4.01 on average, according to GasBuddy.
On Sunday afternoon, Roy Blackburn was filling his vehicle with Tennessee plates at Kwik Stop. He said prices in Chattanooga were $3.39 for unleaded when he and his wife, Nancy, left that state on Friday.
“It’s about 80 cents higher here,” he said.
The Blackburns were just getting to Chase County Sunday afternoon to visit relatives. Nancy’s son, Andy Anderson, lives in Lamar.
“The national average is poised to fall back under $4 per gallon as early as today (Monday) as we see the decline in gas prices enter its eighth straight week, said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.
By the end of the week, 100,000 stations will be at $3.99 or less,” he said.
“Diesel continues to decline as well, and will likely soon fall under $5 per gallon. We’ve even seen nearly a dozen stations in low-priced states fall under $2.99 (for unleaded), a welcome return to some lucky motorists in areas of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Iowa,” he added.
The groundwork is laid for a ninth week of decline, he predicts.
