Care packages help fill needs at Imperial,Wauneta facilities

Care centers in Imperial and Wauneta were among the 44 assisted living centers in the state to receive care packages from Nomi Health.
The packages, delivered the end of June, are drawstring totes that residents can carry or hang on wheelchairs or walkers. They contained a maze puzzle pen, a crossword puzzle book, a word search puzzle, ChapStick and playing cards.
The care packages were a brainchild of Nebraska State Senator Tom Brewer of Gordon, resulting from  a conversation he had last year with Nomi Health Co-Founder and CEO Mark Newman about the hardships people in assisted living communities had.
Between the isolation and shortage of funds, the need for entertainment for residents has increased.
“Nomi Health wanted to do some small act that would lift the spirits of those who have been in isolation the past two years,” said Rebecca Armstrong Langle, Nomi’s director of Corporate Social Responsibility.
More than 2,000 care packages were delivered across the state.
Nomi Health, based in Orem, Utah, is a direct healthcare company delivering access to low-cost care across the U.S.
