Blood donors have chance to win beach prize package

In addition to responding to a vital need, donors at next week’s Red Cross blood drive will also be entered in a summer beach prize package.
The blood drive will be held at Chase County Schools’ auxiliary gym from noon to 6 p.m., and all those coming in to donate could win a fun Shark Week package. Prospective donors should enter on the east side of the gym, and can utilize the student parking lot there.
This month’s drive goal is 80 units. CCS senior Raissa Nevarez is student coordinator.
Nevarez said donors can sign up online at redcrossblood.org. The code for next week’s Imperial drive is chasecohsne.
Nevarez can also be contacted for appointments at 308-414-1064, and said walkins are welcome.
As part of the American Red Cross’ partnership with Discovery, those who come in to donate blood by July 31 will be automatically entered for a chance to win a stand-up paddle board, beach cruiser bicycle, smokeless portable fire pit, a one-seater kayak and $500 gift card for accessories.
Prospective donors are reminded they can donate after receiving the COVID-19 vaccination. Knowing the name of the manufacturer helps determine blood donation eligibility.
Donors are no longer required to wear a face mask at Red Cross blood drives.
