West is best at MCC Wild West Classic

The West team at the McCook Community College Wild West Volleyball Classic got off to a slow start Sunday evening. Once the group got rolling, however, they were impossible to stop.
The West squad, including Chloe Dillan from Chase County, Alexa Sandman from Wauneta-Palisade and Meghan Bishop from Perkins County, rallied from a significant early deficit in the first set and took a 25-23 win.
The second set was all West with the team taking a 25-15 win.
The East team made a rotation change in the third set that led to a match up between West MVP Gabby Caskey of Ogallala facing East MVP Autumn Deterding of Cambridge in the front row. The West won the match with a 26-24 win.
Dillan started at libero for the West and Sandman played defensive specialist. Sandman finished with 13 digs, one ace and one kill. Dillan had seven digs and one kill. Bishop played outside hitter and totaled one kill, one block and two digs.
Leading the way for the West was Caskey, who knocked down 19 kills and had two blocks. Deterding had nine kills for the East team, but also had five blocks.
