Swimming pool to open Memorial Day

Things are beginning to feel more normal again.
Memorial Day is coming up Monday, holiday activities are back on agendas, boats are being readied to head to the lake and the city swimming pool is opening on schedule.
The pool will officially open at 1 p.m. Monday.
Alex Schilke returns as pool manager with Adelaide Maxwell, Chloe Dillan and Jordan Jablonski as assistant managers.
Lifeguards for this summer are Matalie Wallin, Lucy Spady, Bryn McNair, Delaney Krutsinger, Madelynn Hanes, Faith Hauxwell, Joee Clevenger, Landree McNair and Olivia Spady.
The pool will be open to the public Monday through Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Monday through Thursday nights from 7 to 9 p.m.
Prices for single day passes are $3 for youths and $5 for adults. Individual season tickets are $50, while family season tickets cost $100.
Imperial’s Swim Team will start practices Monday from 11 a.m. to noon.
“Anyone wanting to join swim team can come talk to me then,” Schilke said.
Swimming lessons will begin the second week in June.  To sign up, call the pool during open hours, she said, at 308-882-5138.
Pat Davison, Public Works Superintendent, said there have not been any problems with the pool this year—nothing out of the normal.
“We have cleaned the pool of the usual leaves and dirt and done some repainting. The pumps and other features are all running correctly,” Davison said.
“We’ve been lucky so far—no problems.”
The pool is filled and chemicals are in. It’s ready to go for opening day, he said.
