Wallace senior sells prints in fundraiser for fire depts.

Recent wildfires that scarred southwest Nebraska have left their marks on residents.
Many fundraising activities have taken place, but Wallace senior Denay Pelster is doing her part to help out.
Pelster and her mom, Kasandra, evacuated their home during an April 22 fire while her dad, Matthew, went to help firefighting efforts. The fire passed within a quarter mile of their home.
With the Elsie/Grainton fire, the Road 702 and the Road 739 fires in mind, Pelster created a painting in honor of Nebraska firefighters.
Although Pelster said she has never sold her work before, 8 x 10-inch prints of her painting are available for purchase with the proceeds going to support area firefighters.
In a Facebook post, Pelster said she has wanted to do her part to give back to the selfless people who have contributed to fighting these fires.
“The painting depicts the state of Nebraska up in flames and the firefighter doing his best to put out the fire. The Nebraska state sign represents the ‘good life’ we are living and how these hard times have only strengthened us as a whole,” she said in the post.
Prints can be picked up at the Wallace school for $30 or be mailed for $35.
Contact Pelster 308-660-8899 or by Facebook message to order.  Payments can be made by venmo to dpelster or mailed to 76335 Rd 348, Elsie, NE 69134.
