Preschool makes plans for class restructuring in fall

Brandi Dannatt and Tammy Siverson took over as co-directors for Rainbow Promise Preschool last August.
The school is located at 420 Holland Street, offering classes for ages 3 to 5.
Currently, there are two morning classes with a mixture of ages.
Beginning next fall, classes will be expanded into three morning classes.
“Each class will be dedicated to ages three, four or five instead of a mixture of ages,” said Dannatt.
There are two reasons for expanding the classrooms, she said.
They want to increase the number of students they can teach and allow for gradually building a foundation for a curriculum from two to three years before students begin kindergarten, said Dannatt.
“We want to focus more on social and emotional development for 3-year-olds first starting preschool,” said Siverson.
“We feel that the transition for the youngest students, when leaving Mom and going to school into a social setting, would be easier in a dedicated class,” she added.
Siverson also said they would like to spend a little more time with the youngest students helping them recognize certain things, like ABCs, before they move on to the next level class and start using the letters, Siverson said.
“We want to offer classes that can build more gradually on each level—building a learning foundation like stepping stones,” Dannatt said.
The preschool is currently taking registrations for next year.

Registration will be open until classes are full.
Short-term summer camps are still held in June and July for 3 to 5 year olds.
August summer camps are only for children that will be starting kindergarten.
“Summer camps are for all 3 to 5 year olds in the community, not just those attending Rainbow Promise,” Dannatt said.

The annual pancake supper to raise funds for student scholarships will be held April 1 along with two student programs.
