Speech team performs at large meet in North Platte

Chase County Schools speech team was one of over 23 teams in attendance at the Blue and Gold speech meet in North Platte Saturday.
“There were over 300 entries, so this was and will be our biggest speech meet this year,” said Alexandria Schilke, CCS speech coach.
The students competing  were Kobe Norman, Conner Tyerman and Annika McDaniel, all in Entertainment, Mason Tyerman in Persuasive and Brayan Cazares in Serious Prose.
“At this meet, there were Champs Finals which are the top six from prelims. Then they have Honors finals which are the next four places,” Schilke said.
McDaniel and Mason Tylerman made Champs Finals, and Cazares made the Honors Finals, she added.
McDaniel placed sixth in Entertainment.
Mason Tyerman placed fifth in Persuasive, and Cazares placed ninth in Serious.
As a team, CCS placed 11th.
The next meet is in Ogallala this Saturday.
