Ten local winners advance in K of C free throw contest

    Ten youths are on their way to districts later this month after winning the local Knights of Columbus free throw shooting contest in Imperial Saturday morning.
    The local winners will compete at districts in Wauneta at the high school gym on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 1 p.m.
    Contest coordinator Mark Spady said 27 youths participated in the contest for ages 9 to 14. Girls and boys competed separately with medals going to the winners.
    Youths lined up in their age groups and had 15 shots from the line.
    Here are the first place winners who will represent Imperial at districts, and their shooting stats:
    Boys—Age 9-Beckett Richmond, 8-15; age 10-Knox Paisley, 9-15; age 11-Josh Kunkel, 5-15; age 12-Zak Anderson, 12-15; age 13-Evan O’Neil, ,11-15; age 14-Haven Hauxwell, 9-15.
    Girls—Age 9-Quinn Spady, 8-15; age 10-Brielle Exum, 8-15; age 11-Jordyn Stafford, 9-15; age 12-Paige Owens, 8-15.
    Winners at the district contest Feb. 27 will advance to regionals. A regional win will send the youth to the state contest.
