John P. Posluszny begins his role as regional publisher at the newspaper in Imperial as well as Grant and Holyoke, Colorado, last week.

Posluszny named regional publisher

High Plains News North recently named John P. Posluszny regional publisher of The Holyoke Enterprise in Colorado and The Imperial Republican and Grant Tribune-Sentinel in Nebraska.
“We’re thrilled to have John Posluszny lead our team as Regional Publisher in Nebraska and Colorado,” said co-owner Lloyd Mullen. “Posluszny has worked in the news industry for more than three decades. He knows this business inside and out and most importantly, he knows the value of community journalism. Our communities are lucky to have him.”
Co-owner Jesse Mullen added, “I’m excited to have John as part of our team. We believe his background with press operations and community journalism in Wyoming makes him an ideal partner for what we’re hoping to accomplish here.”
Posluszny said everyone at High Plains News North is dedicated to their communities and to journalism integrity. “I want to maintain the level of community involvement that the newspapers have had,” he said, “while being hyper-focused on community activities, news and sports.”
As the regional publisher, Posluszny will be working out of the three local newspaper offices, and decisions will be made at this level, he said.
He’s excited to see forward momentum. “All of our towns are progressive. We want to grow as the towns grow,” he said, noting that this group of newspapers is poised for growth in an industry that’s seen its share of ups and downs.
Posluszny and his wife, Melissa, who is a registered nurse, will be relocating from Cheyenne, Wyoming. They have four adult children and three grandkids.
He is looking forward to getting involved with organizations like the Rotary, local chambers of commerce, and the press associations in Colorado and Nebraska. He also enjoys spending his free time hunting, fishing and reading.
Posluszny grew up in Rotterdam, New York, which is outside of Albany, and got his first taste of the newspaper industry while working as a newspaper carrier as a kid. He is the son of a Korean War veteran, and his wife is the daughter of a World War II vet.
After high school, Posluszny attended North Country Community College, graduating with an associate degree in 1986. He has completed various courses since then.
He spent a decade working for the state of New York as a special assistant to the governor. While he has enjoyed newspapers throughout his life, Posluszny felt a big draw to them during his time with the state. He saw it as a booming industry with career advancement opportunities.
He headed back toward his hometown and served as the circulation supervisor for Daily Gazette Newspapers Inc. in Schenectady, New York, from 2001-2013.
Posluszny spent a few years as circulation director for Ogden Newspapers in Wheeling, West Virginia, before a year as president of shared services and audience development at Evening Post Industries in Charleston, South Carolina.
Following a stint in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as the single copy sales and marketing manager for Philadelphia Media Network, Posluszny headed west for his most recent position — regional operations director for Adams Publishing Group in Cheyenne, beginning in January 2019.
At the newspapers in Holyoke, Imperial and Grant, Posluszny will be developing a new structure with new teams and will be hiring a managing editorial director.
His goal is to keep the three newspapers growing and thriving well beyond his years.
