The Giving Tree at Hayden Outdoors office still has around 60 children’s request ornaments for people to select to buy Christmas gifts.

Plenty of children’s names still on Giving Tree

Almost 90 children’s names have been given to hang on the Giving Tree in the Hayden Outdoors lobby.
Some names have been selected from the tree, but as of Friday there are still an estimated 60 children left that need gifting for Christmas.
Logan and Ginny Siverson and Grayson Owens, who spearheaded the Giving Tree, are anxiously waiting to wrap the gifts for the children on the tree.
Tammy Siverson wanted to remind people of the Dec. 15 deadline for gift items to be returned to the office location.
“Be sure to return the foam ornament from the tree with each child’s information and assigned number with the unwrapped gift to identify who the gift goes to,” she said.
If anyone wants to donate money to be used to purchase gifts for children, contact Siverson at 308-882-0039.
“One group of kids helping to raise money to buy gifts for Giving Tree children are the kids that ride Chase County Schools bus-2,” said Siverson.
Bus driver Stacy Towns read the newspaper article about the Giving Tree to her bus riders, and they wanted to get involved.
Each of the bus-2 students received a donation container to place at area businesses, as well as asking for donations from friends and family toward Giving Tree gifts.
Logan, Ginny and Grayson will then take the money donations and go shopping for Christmas gifts for those ornaments not selected.
When going out to Hayden Outdoors to select a foam ornament for a child’s gift, Siverson wanted to note there is road construction so a detour through the Channel Seed property at the corner of Highway 61 and East 3rd Street is being used to access the Hayden Outdoors’ property, she said.
“I encourage people to pick up a child’s identifying ornament to come together as a community to support families that can use a little extra help,” Siverson said.
