Vision of Trees event is back again

After having to skip a year due to the pandemic, Vision of Trees, sponsored by the Champion Women’s Club, is coming back with all the events and good food as before.
The two-day event will be held at the community center in Champion from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The theme for the Christmas trees this year is “Peace on Earth,” and the public is invited to decorate the Christmas trees to be on display.
These trees will adorn the room by bringing Christmas joy to all who stroll among them, said Sammi Johnson, planning committee member.
If you would like to decorate a tree for this Saturday, contact Jessie Schmidt for details at 308-882-2995.
A noon luncheon will be served both days beginning at 11 a.m. On Saturday, a baked potato lunch will be served, and Sunday will feature homemade soups.
The cost of a meal will be $5.
During the event there will be free cookies, live music and a Santa letter station.
Homemade baked goods, Christmas wreaths and crafts will be available to purchase as well, Johnson said.
Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each or 12 for $10.
The items to be raffled include wooden outdoor furniture, a quilt, other handmade items and a decorated Christmas tree by the Challengers 4-H Club.
Santa Claus will be at the community building on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. to visit with children and hand out gift bags filled with goodies as family members capture a memory of their child with Santa.
A silent auction will also be conducted both days, said Johnson.
“The drawing for raffle tickets and announcement of silent auction winners will take place on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.,” she added.
Winners need not be present to win.
To donate items for the silent auction, contact Emma Jenkins at 308-883-1460.
