Status hearing for Kevin German set for Dec. 7

Kevin German and Keonna Carter remain jailed in North Platte on murder and kidnapping charges, stemming from the death of Annika Swanson of Imperial nearly two years ago.
German, 26, and Carter, 24, continue to be held with no bail at the Lincoln County Jail in North Platte.
German is scheduled for a status hearing on Dec. 7 at 8:30 a.m. CT, which will be conducted by telephone.
At a June status hearing for German this year, attorneys noted that discovery was continuing with more depositions expected to be taken in the following months.
Both German and Carter are being held on 1st degree murder and kidnapping charges. One of the two kidnapping charges originally filed against Carter was dropped.
Both defendants have pled not guilty to all charges. The cases are being handled by the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office.
Suzanne Gage, Director of Communications with the AG’s office, said last week that the cases are proceeding on course. Gage said the judicial vacancy created by the retirement of District Judge David Urbom, who was initially handling both cases, has caused a slight delay.
Annika Swanson, then 22, was reported missing Nov. 21, 2019 by her father. Her body was found five days later south of Imperial.
