Operation Christmas Child’s shoebox collection next week

Next week is slated as a National Collection Week for the Operation Christmas Child “pack a shoebox” program that sends boxes of items to children in Third World countries.
Imperial Berean Church is taking part in the collection effort, as it has for years, and will accept filled shoeboxes all next week, Nov. 15-22, at the church at 1530 Broadway.
Pastor Matt Maxwell said people can find information on items needs and how to pack the shoebox by searching “Operation Christmas Child” online.
Once at the site, suggestions are listed for boys and girls in three age groups: 2-4, 5-9 and 10-14 years old.
Items suggested include a “wow” item such as a stuffed animal, personal care items, clothing/accessories, toys, crafts/activities and a personal note. Specific items are listed for each category. Directions on how to pack the shoebox are also given.
There are also a number of items that should not be packed, including liquids, military-type toys, breakable items, etc.
Pastor Maxwell said the people will be at the church all next week during the following times to accept the shoeboxes.
People should enter the church’s south building.
