Fair’s morning run returns with 5K, mile, kids’ 800

    More than 50 adults and youths were up early Saturday morning of the Chase County Fair to compete in the return of the fair run.
    No races were held in 2020 due to the fair’s cancellation of most events because of COVID concerns, but it was back on the schedule this year with the return of some familiar organizers.
    Imperial Super Foods and McNair Agency put together this year’s event once again, which included a mile walk/run, a 5K and kids’ half-mile.
    A 10K division was not scheduled this year.
    In all, 53 adults and youths participated in all three races. Of that group, 19 youths ran the half-mile (800 meter) on the CCS track.
    Every participant received a Chase County Fair run hat, with medals going to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K.
    Coordinators Abby McNair and Jill Moline thanked Imperial EMS for being on site, the CCS cross country team, other volunteers who helped with registration and other tasks, as well as the participants.
