Enders anticipates busy Fourth of July weekend

This Fourth of July is another three-day holiday weekend for most people, and that means a busy time at Enders Lake Recreation Area.
On top of that, all overnight campgrounds and beach campsites at Lake McConaughy and Lake Ogallala 50 miles north are fully booked July 2-5.
“It’s going to be a busy weekend here,” said Beau Licking, superintendent at Enders.
It’s possible some hopeful Lake Mac campers don’t realize they had to reserve spots in advance at McConaughy. With those sites full already last week, that may send them searching for other spots close by like Enders, Licking said.
He said staff is busy with maintenance work as they prepare for next week’s big holiday weekend.
Enders has 42 electrical sites near the main boat ramp, and another 52 designated basic camping sites that do not have electricity—31 in Hannibal Hollow and 21 in Area B. Additional primitive sites are also available throughout the area.
Camping at Enders SRA is all first-come, first-serve and campers register their nightly camping fees in a raised, locked box called an Iron Ranger.
Self-service envelopes are provided at each of the 13 Iron Ranger stations. Payment can be made by cash or check only.
The Iron Rangers are located near the park entrance or in the campground areas. On-site camping informational signs are provided to help guide campers with the self-registration process.
A Park Entry Permit is required on all vehicles entering the recreation area. For faster entry into the park areas, visitors can purchase a permit in advance online at Outdoor Nebraska.org or at local permit vendors.
