After two weeks of quilts, museum continues 2021 program schedule

The Chase County Museum in Champion has begun its 2021 program schedule after cancelling programs last year due to pandemic restrictions.
For the past two Sundays, the museum has featured a quilt show. Scrapbooks will take center stage this Sunday.
The Chase County Stompers square dancing group has been keeping scrapbooks since their beginning. They include the history of the Stompers accompanied by clippings of newspaper articles.
This Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m., the square dancing scrapbooks will be on display at the museum. The scrapbooks were donated to the museum last year.
“We talked about it when we knew the Stompers were going to end, and decided the museum was the best place to keep our square dancing history,” said former Stompers member Norma Jean Burtis.
Charley Colton, president of the Chase County Historical Society, said he hopes former dance members and other community members will attend to reminisce about the Stompers’ dancing days.
Kay Castle, another former member of the Stompers, said the group had to disband about three years ago due to no longer having any “callers.”
As always, refreshments will be provided Sunday, said Colton.
