Registration deadlines approaching for G&P 100th birthday bash events

    Registration deadlines for the various events during the Nebraska Game & Parks 100th birthday bash at Enders Lake June 5 are quickly approaching.
    Lake Supt. Beau Licking and his assistant, Dayna Scherbarth, said Thursday, May 20, is the deadline for the various events planned for the day.
    These include the smoke off contest, semi show, truck show, tractor show and 5K run.
    They said just four spots remain for the “Smokin’ on the Lake” barbeque contest, which is being limited to 15 entries.
    Scherbarth said they are encouraging farmers, ranchers and business owners to give their semis and trucks a quick wash and bring them down to display throughout the day’s events.
    She noted they are also seeking straight farm trucks for the show, the older the better.
    Divisions for the truck show include: working truck, show truck, straight farm truck and semi farm truck.
    The tractor show divisions include: classic, antique and working     tractor.
    The $10 entry fee for the truck and tractor shows includes a one-day park pass.
    Scherbarth noted people can sign up for the 5k run on the day of the race. However, if people sign up prior by the May 20 deadline, their $20 entry fee will also guarantee them a t-shirt. The fee also includes a one-day park pass.
    Proceeds from the run will be donated to the National Brain Tumor Society.
    The main event will be an afternoon appearance of the Gould Brothers, known for their trick shooting exhibitions.
    Other events planned for the day include  a car show hosted by the Car Nutz Car Club, a history tent, traveling G&P displays, a free evening barbeque and dance.
    Pheasants Forever is also adding a pollinator garden.
    A map of the locations for each event and times will be available prior to the event.
    A park permit will be required for all vehicles entering the recreation area that day.
    Registration forms are available at area banks, businesses and at the G&P office at Enders Lake.
