WP musicians compile awards at district music
Out of Wauneta-Palisade’s 16 entries in last week’s NSAA District Music Contest, 10 of them earned a I, or superior rating.
Another six earned a ranking of II by judges, considered excellent.
Two of WP’s large groups, the concert band and mixed chorus, both earned the superior ranking from judges.
Along with Olivia Behrends’ vocal solo superior, her number also rated an outstanding performance honorable mention.
Chase County Schools in Imperial hosted the contest this year, and will be the host again in 2022.
Besides CCS and WP, other schools competing in Imperial at the District V contest included Arapahoe, Cambridge, Dundy Co. Stratton, Eustis-Farnam, Hayes Center, Hitchcock Co., Maywood, McCook, Medicine Valley and Southwest.
Aaron Behrends is WP’s vocal and instrumental director.
