CCS student returns home

Imperial resident Brock Leibhart, a sophomore at Chase County Schools (CCS), returned home last Friday following hospitalization in Denver, Colorado for injuries due to an automobile accident.
Leibhart, 16, received extensive injuries from a one-car accident Feb. 7. The 2005 F250 pickup he was driving rolled on the highway south of Enders Dam.
Leibhart was hospitalized at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado with five broken ribs, a brain bleed, contusions to his liver, spleen, kidneys and lungs, two broken thoracic vertebrae and a spinal cord injury.
Following surgery to stabilize his spine, the youth was transferred to Craig Hospital in Englewood for therapy.
Leibhart is moving around in a wheelchair at present and will begin physical therapy soon.
He hopes to return to classes at CCS next week, according to a family member.
