CCS second grader Peyton Banks received the Governor’s Choice award in the state’s NDA annual poster contest celebrating National Ag Week.

Poster picked ‘Governor’s Choice’

Winners were announced in the 2021 annual poster contest celebrating National Ag Week  in March, and one of them is a local student.
Chase County Schools (CCS) second grader Peyton Banks won the Governor’s Choice award in her age group for her poster which followed this year’s theme: “Nebraska Agriculture: Straight from the Good Life.”
More than 1,700 students in grades 1-6 from all over the state entered NDA’s 18th annual contest by highlighting Nebraska agriculture, the state’s number one industry.
“There are many talented students in Nebraska who learned about agriculture and how important the ag industry is to our state through this contest,” said NDA Director Steve Wellman.
“The posters we received this year were outstanding. The students did a good job of incorporating this year’s ‘Good Life’ theme,” Wellman said.
The posters were judged in three separate divisions: first and second grade; third and fourth grade; and fifth and sixth grade. Then Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts decided on a “Governor’s Choice” in each of the three age groups.
Peyton’s parents are Jason and Michelle Banks of Imperial.
