Registration forms available for G&P 100th birthday bash

    Plans continue to take shape for the Nebraska Game & Parks 100th birthday bash at Enders Lake June 5.
    Lake Supt. Beau Licking and his assistant, Dayna Scherbarth, said they have registration forms available for events planned during the day.
    The “Smokin’ on the Lake” barbeque contest is the only event that will be limited, Scherbarth said.
    Slots are available for up to 15 teams, so she encouraged entrants to get their forms in as soon as possible.
    Categories include pork butt, baby back ribs, meat of their choice and a side dish.
    The $100 entry fee will include the pork butts, ribs and camping fees.
    Registration deadline  for the barbeque event is May 20.
    Divisions for the truck show include: working truck, show truck, straight farm truck and semi farm truck. The $10 per truck fee includes a one-day park pass.
    The tractor show divisions include: classic, antique and working     tractor. The $10 per person entry fee includes a one-day park pass.
    Registration for the 5K run will be $20, which includes a one-day park pass. Proceeds from the run will be donated to the National Brain Tumor Society.
    Forms will be available at area banks and businesses. They can also be picked up at the G&P office at Enders Lake.
    Licking, who is superin-tendent for both the Enders State Recreation Area and Rock Creek State Recreation Area, said both parks will be represented at the event but all activities will be held at Enders Lake.
    Other events planned for the day include  a car show hosted by the Car Nutz Car Club, a history tent, traveling G&P displays, a free evening barbeque and dance.
    The main event will be an afternoon appearance of the Gould Brothers, known for their trick shooting exhibitions.
    A park permit will be required for all vehicles entering the recreation area for the event.
