Two semis collide near state line; damage totals $45,000

An accident at the Nebraska-Colorado state line last week sent a myriad of emergency personnel to the scene after two semis pulling trailers collided.
According to Chase Co. Chief Deputy Mike Dukes, there were no injuries sustained by the drivers and neither was taken to the hospital following the mid-Friday afternoon accident.
However, between the two rigs, about $45,000 in damage was estimated.
Tony Kerr, 41, of Sterling, Colorado was in a 2000 Freightliner pulling a flatbed trailer, and was headed east on Highway 6. Andrew Andersen, 57, of Lamar was driving a 2006 Peterbilt with a grain trailer, heading south on 310 Avenue.  As Andersen approached the intersection, Dukes’ report states he did not see Kerr and pulled out into traffic.
The two rigs collided, and ended up blocking both lanes of travel, forcing a detour of traffic.
Dukes said no citations were issued due to the fact it could not be determined if the accident occurred first in Colorado or Nebraska. He said the Chase County Sheriff’s Office worked the scene due to the fact it ended up in Chase County.
Anderson’s unit sustained about $30,000 in damage, while Kerr’s reportedly had $15,000 in damage.
The Chase County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Phillips County, Colorado Sheriff’s Office, Imperial Volunteer Fire Department, Imperial EMS and the Lamar Volunteer Fire Department.
