Churches, restaurants can reopen on May 4, with some restrictions

Hair and nail salons, dental offices also okay

Business owners in Imperial and the state welcomed news from Gov. Pete Ricketts office last week that will slowly reopen some businesses and churches on Monday, May 4.
Entities getting the green light to reopen slowly include churches, restaurants, hair/nail salons and dental offices.
Not all of the state’s health districts are included in the reopening schedule, but the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) that includes Chase County is among those where reopenings can start.
Though some of the restrictions are being eased, safety guidelines like social distancing are still in place, according Ricketts’ announcement.
Also effective on May 4, child care facilities can increase their numbers from 10 to 15 per room/space.
Elective surgeries can also resume Monday, as can dental practicies if they choose.
“Just because we are able to relax some measures, does not mean life returns to normal,” Ricketts said in his Friday press conference.
Ricketts’ latest Directed Health Measures (DHMs) are reviewed below.
