City officials are on the search for a Community Development Director.
Jason Tuller, who’s held the job the past seven years, submitted a letter of resignation Monday. His last day in the position will be Feb. 18, he said.
Tuller accepted a job with the University of Nebraska Extension Service as an Associate Extension Educator within the community vitality area.
“I’ll be working with communities to help them grow,” he said Tuesday.
He’ll be officed in Hebron, about an hour south of York, and serve an eight-county area in the position, he said.
He starts his new job Feb. 24.
While he said he’s enjoyed his position here, he needed something different, too.
“I’ve really enjoyed watching the city grow. I’ve enjoyed seeing the changes in the community and helping with projects, getting them off the ground,” he said.
He was glad to be part of the acquisition of the Bomgaars store for Imperial and was happy to witness the construction of the new Farm Credit Services of America building in the city-owned Cornerstone property.
“We (the city) have also done a lot with housing,” he said.
During his tenure, Imperial has seen the construction of 15 rental homes in Cornerstone.
While he starts his job this month, he said it will be awhile before his family gets moved.
He said they need to sell their Imperial home, find one in Hebron, in addition to moving their belongings.
He and wife Dawn have four children—two in college and two who are home-schooled.
The city of Imperial is already advertising for the position, said Clerk/Administrator Jo Leyland.
She said Tuller has been a great addition to the city team and community.
“He has been an advocate for Imperial throughout the state and assisted in the development we’ve seen on the Cornerstone property.  Jason and his family are faithful volunteers for community projects and programs and they will be missed,” she said.
