Thomas Henry Weiss was born June 18, 1951 at Chase County Hospital to Donald and Anastacia (Shutze) Weiss.
Tom was raised on the family farm northwest of Imperial and graduated from Chase County High School in 1969.
After graduation, Tom enlisted in the United States Navy and worked as an Aviation Machinist on the P-3 Aircraft performing regular and scheduled maintenance. On Nov. 21, 1973, Tom was honorably discharged from the Navy and returned to southwest Nebraska.
On May 20, 1978, Tom married Catherine Gillen and to this union three children were born: Jennifer, Matthew and Christopher. The family lived in McCook, Champion and Imperial with Tom and Cate finally settling on the Weiss family farm in 2007.
Tom loved diversity and had many occupations during his life including farming, trucking and electrical, finally starting Weiss Electric in 2003.
In his free time, Tom loved hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycles, playing cards and spending time with friends and family.
Tom passed away Friday evening, March 1, 2019, at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming.  He was 67 years of age.
Survivors include wife  Catherine of Imperial; daughter Jennifer of Laramie, Wyoming; son Matthew (Leann) of Enders and son Christopher of Imperial; granddaughters Cyanne and Alyssa Weiss of Enders; brothers Bill Weiss of Loup City, Don Weiss Jr. of Imperial and Joe (Jeanie) Weiss of Imperial; sisters Carolyn (Tom) Huckabee of West Palm Beach, Florida and Mary (Patrick) Lewis of Cheyenne, Wyoming; mother-in-law Betty Gillen of McCook; numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A Rosary will be recited Friday, March 8, 7 p.m. at St. Patricks Catholic Church of Imperial with Fr. Bernard Lorenz officiating.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 9, 10:30 a.m. at the Champion Community Building in Champion, with Kent Swink officiating.
A private family inurnment will occur at a later date.
A memorial has been suggested to the Chase County Cancer Walk.
