Virginia Ridlen

Virginia Irene (Milner) Ridlen age 90, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at her home in Fairview, Tennessee. She was born Dec. 11, 1927 in Republic, Kansas.
She was one of seven children born to Lawrence (Pate) Leonard and Irene (Roberts) Milner. She grew up in the southwest corner of Chase County and graduated from Chase County High School in 1945. She received an elementary teaching certificate in 1945 and taught in the Chase County School system.
Virginia married Carl William Ridlen on April 27, 1947, at the Methodist parsonage in Imperial, Nebraska. They were married for over 71 years. They farmed in southwest Nebraska/eastern Colorado until moving to Omaha in 1959. They later moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1972, and then Fairview, Tennessee, in 1990.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her Hereford cattle grazing behind their house.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sharon and brothers Charles in World War II, Dean Milner, Delmar Milner, Ron Milner, and sister Viola Bischoff.
She is survived by her husband Carl; two children, daughter Carol (Jim) Allen of Shabbona, Illinois and son Larry (Karen) Ridlen of Fairview, Tennessee; brother Leonard (Effie) of San Jose, California; grandkids Kathy (Wade) Douglass of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jon (Kazumi) Allen of Tustin, California, Sarai (Eddie) Casiano of DeKalb, Illinois, Rebecca (Rick) Schwantes of DeKalb, Illinois, Melissa (Chad) DeLano of Fairview, Tennessee, Beth (Brandon) Taylor of Fairview, Tennessee, Jennifer (Dylan) Pine of Fairview, Tennessee, Stephanie (Anthony) Curatolo of Fairview, Tennessee; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life service was conducted Saturday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m. CT, at the Harpeth Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Matt Phelan officiating. Interment followed in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
The family received friends on Saturday 11 a.m. CT until the hour of the service at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Horton Haven Christian Camp, P.O. Box 276, Chapel Hill, TN 37034, in Virginia’s memory.
