Fireworks that were still hot started a fire on July 4 at Imperial’s recycling center in the cardboard collection area. Members got it extinguished quickly and there was no damage to the building.

Saturday continued a decade-long tradition in Imperial—the 10th edition of the annual Mayor’s Poker Run. But, this year, it was also Mayor Craig Loeffler’s first Poker Run.
Northeastern Colorado, including Phillips County and the city of Holyoke, just west of Chase County, were walloped last week by bad weather.

The water was full of boats Tuesday at Enders Lake, where temperatures in the mid-80s drew big numbers that started late last week. Here, a pair of boats crisscross the lake just west of the dam.

Shoreline areas, like Sunny Beach, above, were near capacity Tuesday on the Fourth of July, many of which were camping overnight. All electrical camping sites at Enders Lake Recreation Area were full and beaches like this one had strong use.
Weather cooperated with sun and warm temperatures for a great holiday weekend at Enders Lake Recreation Area.
