Paxton hosting meeting on Biden’s 30x30 proposal

Area ag producers and landowners are being encouraged to attend a meeting Monday night in Paxton that will discuss the “30x30 Biden Proposal.”
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. MT at the Paxton school, and is sponsored by the Nebraska Cattlemen’s (NC) local affiliate.
Presentations at the meeting will come from Melody Benjamin of Alliance, NC member services; Tanya Storer of Whitman, Nebraska, representing the American Stewards of Liberty and a Cherry County commissioner; and Keith County Commissioner Joan Ervin of Brule, who will discuss the resolution passed by Keith County against the proposal.
According to the American Stewards of Liberty website, President Biden has set a goal of conserving 30% of America’s lands and oceans by 2030, a key component of his climate-crisis agenda set forth in Executive Order 14008.
Their website continues, “Although the Biden Administration has not released any substantive details of how they intend to implement the program, they have confirmed that private property will be a key target of the conservation program.”
The meeting is open to the public. Questions can be directed to Chuck Graff, 308-289-5841 or Mark Perlinger 308-289-1966.
Graff said Monday’s meeting in Paxton is just the second one held in Nebraska since the proposal was revealed.
The first one, March 9 in Valentine, drew 300 people, he said.
