State Games youth volleyball headed to Kearney July 9-10

Nebraska Sports Council (NSC) and Kearney Visitors Bureau (KVB) officials announced that Kearney will host the Cornhusker State Games (CSG) Youth Volleyball Tournament on July 9-10.
“We are excited to partner with the Nebraska Sports Council and Cornhusker State Games to host the Youth Volleyball Tournament here in Kearney,” Sports and Special Events Manager of the KVB Hannah Backer said.
“The Kearney Visitors Bureau is always searching for partnerships to bring sporting events to our city. With this opportunity, we are excited to showcase what we have to offer here in central Nebraska,” she said.
CSG has also partnered with USA Volleyball to help with the organization of the tournament. The tournament will offer five different divisions over the two days.
The 16U (9/10th Grade or High School JV and C Teams) and 18U (High School Varsity) divisions will be held on July 9. The 10U (3/4th), 12U (5/6th), 14U (7th/8th) divisions will be held on July 10.
The tournament format will consist of round robin pool play of full sets and all teams will move onto an afternoon single elimination bracket play. USAV rules will be used.
CSG competitions are open to Nebraska athletes of all ages and abilities, with 70 sports at venues in Lincoln, Omaha, Kearney, Grand Island, Columbus and surrounding communities. Registration and information are available at CornhuskerStateGames.com.
The next price jump for most sports is June 17. The final deadline to register for most sports is July 5.
All registered athletes will receive a shirt, free meal, admission to the Opening Ceremonies and a chance to win one of 5,000 custom-cast gold, silver and bronze medals. Finishers in several events will receive commemorative medallions.
NSC officials are planning in-person Opening Ceremonies for Friday, July 16 at Seacrest Field in Lincoln with a parade of athletes, skydivers, fireworks, patriotic tribute, mascot showcase and torch-lighting.  
The Cornhusker State Games is conducted by the Nebraska Sports Council, which also conducts the Lincoln and Omaha Corporate Games, the WellPower Movement, the Mud Run, and the Pumpkin Run.
