Car counts good April 17-18 at raceway season opener

Car counts were good and competition strong as Phillips County Raceway opened its season Saturday and Sunday in Holyoke, Colorado.
Originally scheduled as a three-day opener, weather forced cancellation of the Friday night racing. However, organizer Joe Bellm with BST Racing said it was great to get two of the three days in.
While the track was a little rough Saturday, he said it was still fast, and commended the crew working to get the track in shape.
Mini mods stole the show, according to Bellm, and he looks for that to take off this season. Anyone interested in getting their kids involved in the mini mods, or in any part of the racing agenda, may contact Bellm at 720-404-0400.
Information about upcoming racing, as well as results from past races are also posted on the Phillips County Raceway/BST Racing Facebook page.
Next up at PCR are two Sunday afternoon races May 9 and 23 before the season returns to Friday Night Lights the rest of the season.
All five IMCA divisions plus dwarfs, mini mods and UTVs will be featured in the May 9 race schedule.
Crowd numbers were higher last Sunday than Saturday as the weather warmed up, but Bellm is hoping to see an even larger crowd May 9.
