Year’s profits up at Imperial Manor, Parkview-Heights

Imperial’s senior care facilities showed another year in the black, with profits up during the 2019-20 year.
The Imperial city council approved the senior services audit report Monday, after council member Doug Gaswick, who is also a senior services board member, gave a run-down of the 2019-20 year.
The audit reported the Imperial Manor and Parkview-Heights ended its fiscal year June 30, 2020 with a $286,000 profit, up from $82,000 in 2018-19.
“It was a good year. And we were able to do that without any room rate increases,” Gaswick said.
“In fact, we haven’t had a room rate increase, I’d say, going on four years.”
He said it was an excellent year, “considering what we had to deal with” in a year of COVID-19.
Revenues were also up in the 2019-20 fiscal year by about $300,000, growing to $3.7 million from $3.4 million the year prior.
Forty-five percent of all residents are private-pay, or those paying out-of-pocket, he said. The other 55% are funded by Medicaid, Medicare or Veterans Administration.
Gaswick said they’ve been informed Medicare and Medicaid payments to the facilities will be increasing.
A slight upward trend in the census, or number of residents overall, was a big reason for the revenue increases, Gaswick said.
In addition to revenue from the room charges, another $100,000 in non-operating revenue was on the books. Of that, $52,000 from COVID-19 CARES Act funds were used.
Another $210,000 in CARES Act money is on the balance sheet, he added, and the facilities received additional funds after the 2019-20 budget year.
