Wreath ceremony planned Saturday at Eden Cemetery

A special day is planned for Saturday at the Eden Cemetery, southeast of Wauneta, when it hosts a Wreaths Across America ceremony.
Dennis Egle, cemetery president, said the public is invited to the ceremony that will begin at 10:30 a.m. CT, followed by the wreath-laying at 11 a.m.
Egle said Eden Cemetery will be one of the 2,700 cemeteries across the country participating in Wreaths Across America, which honors veterans past and present by laying a wreath at each veteran’s grave.
Egle said they hope to enlist some volunteers from WP Schools to assist, but are looking for more volunteers. Eight Legion members will also be helping, he said.
Anyone who would like to volunteer for this Saturday’s event can call Egle at 308-340-2890 for information.
Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, the organization’s mission to “Remember, Honor and Teach” is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 2,500 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.
Eden Cemetery is located on Road 724, southeast of Wauneta.
