Vision of Trees annual event chooses ‘Night Before Christmas’ theme

The 18th annual Vision of Trees will be held at the Champion Community Center by members of the Champion Jr. Women’s Club this weekend. The hours on Saturday, Dec. 2, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a potato bake luncheon for $6 a person. Hours on Dec. 3 will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a luncheon of homemade soup for $6 a person.
There will be a variety of silent auction items to bid on donated by local supporters from the community/local businesses. Also included in the auction will be wreaths (or ornamental displays) that each club member made to help raise money.
Raffle tickets will be sold for items which will include a six-foot snowflake indoor/outdoor decoration, a six foot snowman decoration for indoor/outdoor, a decorated Christmas tree with ornaments from the Challengers 4-H club (ornaments decorated by kids) and a quilt by Ronda Smith. There may be additional items added as well.
All drawings will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Winners need not be present to win.
There will be live music provided both days while attendees peruse the display of decorated Christmas trees. A prize will be given for the “people’s choice” award for the favorite tree design.
As in years past, a station for writing letters to Santa will be on hand, plus a new cookie decorating activity for kids. Santa will be at the event on Sunday handing out bags of treats and posing for pictures.
Each club member will be providing four dozen homemade cookies for attendees to enjoy while strolling among the decorated trees.
Proceeds will go to local members of the community to help pay bills due to illness or be returned back to the club to go toward future events and projects.
A big thank you goes out to all who are involved and donated time or items to make this event a success.
