Time dwindling for voter registrations

Less than three weeks remain before the midterm General Election.
Staff at the Chase County Clerk’s Office has been preparing for the Nov. 8 election, and things have picked up this month.
One of the important deadlines closing in deals with voter registration, both for newcomers and those who need to make changes to their voter status.
Friday, Oct. 28, is the final day voter registration changes can be made. The clerk’s office will stay open an extra two hours Oct. 28 until 6 p.m. to serve voters, said Wendy Moe at the county clerk’s office.
She said a few new residents in the county have come in to register. Voters who’ve had any changes in their name, address or want to change their party affiliation must do so by the Oct. 28 deadline.
Absentee voting is also underway in Chase County. Office staff began mailing out requested ballots Oct. 3, and in-office voting started Oct. 11.
Moe said about 55 voters have either come in to vote early or requested ballots be mailed to them. Nebraska voters must request an absentee ballot be mailed to them.
As of Wednesday, there are 2,421 registered Chase County voters affiliated with the following parties:
    Republican 1,872
    Nonpartisan 278
    Democrat 243
    Libertarian 26
    Legal Marijuana NOW 2
