Summer help hired; two join city’s public works department

Summer employees including Recreation Director, Soccer Director and Groundskeepers were appointed and salaries set at last week’s city council meeting after recommendation from the park board.
    Hired and their salaries include:
John Lechtenberg, Summer Recreation Director, $5,000.
    Misael Garcia-Ramirez, Soccer Director/Groundskeeper, $3,000.
Carl Zuege, Baseball/softball fields groundskeeper, $6,000.
Lifeguards at the city pool will receive an increase this summer with a starting wage of $11.75 per hour—that’s up $2/hour from last season. Park board members also recommended paying lifeguards an additional 25 cents/hour for recurrent years.
While no pool manager is hired yet, the park board approved $15.50/hour for the person to be hired.
The council also approved the park board’s recommendation to increase family pool passes from $100 to $150 and the single passes from $50 to $75. Fitness swim passes will rise from $35 to $45.
In other business, two new employees were hired for the public works department, James Shrout starting at $20/hour and Lori Rowley at $18/hour.
