School musical a retelling of Grimms’ Fairy Tales

Students at Chase County Schools will entertain audiences next weekend with a retelling of some of the old Grimms’ Fairy Tales.
“Into the Woods Jr.” will be staged Oct. 22-23 in the school auditorium. Show times Oct. 22 are 2 and 7 p.m. with a 2 p.m. show Oct. 23.
Tickets at $5 will be sold at the door, said David Rushing, musical director. The cast’s family members will have reserved seating.
“The show is a retelling of some old Grimms’ Fairy Tales mixed into one show,” he said.
“Into the Woods Jr.” adds the characters baker and his wife and their desire to have a child, Rushing added, but the witch puts a spell on the parents forbidding them of having any more children.
“The show revolves around their adventures trying to reverse the spell,” Rushing said.
Along their journey they meet other fairy tale characters including Cinderella, Jack (from the Beanstalk), Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, the Big Bad Wolf, Prince Charming(s) and more.
Twenty-five students are involved in the production.
