Poker Run membership drive to double as Leibhart benefit

The ABATE of Nebraska Inc. District 12 spring Poker Run membership drive will be held this Saturday.
The Poker Run will also serve as a benefit drive for Brock Leibhart who is recovering from injuries he sustained in a car accident Feb. 7.
The cost of a new membership is $25 a person or $50 for a business. During this drive and benefit, $5 will be taken off new memberships, said Brad Dinnel, ABATE spokesman for the Poker Run.
Registration for Saturday’s Poker Run will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at Morningstar Cafe at 140 East 12th St., Imperial.
The donation for one poker hand is $10 or $25 for three hands.
Even though many ABATE members are motorcycle enthusiasts, anyone with two, three or four plus wheels can join, Dinnel said.
The route being taken will leave Imperial and travel to Cambridge, Oberlin, Kansas, Culbertson, Trenton and back to the VFW Post #4688 in Imperial.
“Lunch is on your own in the McCook area,” said Dinnel.
There will be an evening  meal provided at the VFW Hall at approximately 6 p.m. for a free-will donation.
The public is invited.
Following the meal, there will be a live auction of donated items.
Anyone who would like to donate auction items can contact Dinnel at 308-883-0357.
“There will be a raffle drawing during the evening for a 13-gallon Yeti cooler. Raffle tickets will be $1 for one or $5 for six,” he said.
On Saturday, June 12, there will be another Poker Run that starts in Imperial to benefit Daryl Sharp who has been battling cancer.
More details will follow.
