PC Raceway finale is Friday night

Postponed from Aug. 20, the day after the area was hit with a torrential downpour, season finale action at Phillips County Raceway at the fairgrounds in Holyoke, Colorado is scheduled for this Friday night, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m.
After the races, there will be an old-school, end-of-the-season party in the pits.
Promoter Joe Bellm encourages everyone to bring their own food and drinks as they potluck in the pits to celebrate a great 2021 season.
Season awards will be distributed, and there will be discussion about what they would like to see in 2022.
Along with the season championship races will be a new for-fun event called the NAPA Challenge, as sponsored by Kameron Knight and his NAPA store, S&W Auto Supply, in Holyoke.
The challenge event will be conducted at intermission — after the heat races and before the main events.
Eight local-area racers in four different divisions will be competing in the challenge race.
Racers include Kyle Clough and Lloyd Meeske, stock cars; Brandon Clough and Max Quint, modifieds; Tanner Clough and Hunter Smith, hobby stocks; and Justin Bussell and Matt Firme, late models.
This challenge event is the only way for the Clough brothers to compete against each other. It should be a race to watch. The Cloughs are originally from Wallace, Nebraska, and still reside in the Perkins County, Nebraska, area.
Monitoring the challenge event will be a challenge in itself. The late models will be required to complete 19 laps; modifieds, 18 laps; stock cars, 17 laps; and hobby stocks, 16 laps.
Local race enthusiast and track assistant Ed Glennemeier noted that this type of race is done in Iowa, called the Hawkeye Challenge. He said that Scott and Justin Bussell, along with Firme, came up with the idea for PCR.
